Yellow fever vaccine back in stock at Priveo Santé

After several weeks of shortages in Canada, we finally have some excellent news to share: Priveo Santé now has access to yellow fever vaccine. This announcement marks the end of a difficult period for travelers, healthcare professionals and anyone planning a trip to high-risk regions.

In this article, we’d like to explain why this vaccine is so important, remind you of the issues surrounding yellow fever, and celebrate the return of an essential vaccination service to our clinics.

Yellow fever: a serious but preventable disease

Yellow fever is a viral infection transmitted by the bite of infected mosquitoes. Present in many parts of Africa and South America, it can cause symptoms ranging from mild fever to serious complications, including potentially fatal liver and hemorrhagic disease.

Every year, the World Health Organization (WHO) reminds us that thousands of cases are reported, and that the disease still causes a significant number of deaths, particularly in areas where access to healthcare is limited.

The good news is that the yellow fever vaccine is highly effective. A single dose is generally enough to ensure long-term protection, and many countries require proof of vaccination (the famous yellow certificate) to authorize entry for their visitors. For travelers, therefore, it’s not just a health measure, but also an essential document for crossing borders.

List of countries where there is a risk of yellow fever transmission in 2025 according to theINSPQ:

Africa

Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, South Sudan, Togo, Uganda.

South America

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, French Guiana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago (Trinidad only), Venezuela.

A shortage that lasted several weeks

In recent weeks, Canada has experienced a national shortage of yellow fever vaccine. This has complicated the lives of many travellers and limited the capacity of medical clinics to meet demand.

Some patients had to wait several weeks, or even change their travel plans, due to the lack of access to this vaccine, which is mandatory for entry into several countries. In some cases, they even had to travel to designated clinics far from their homes, adding to the delays and costs associated with vaccination.

The end of this shortage therefore represents a major relief for travellers and travel health professionals alike.

Priveo Santé: proud to offer you the vaccine again

At Priveo Santé, we’ve always been committed to supporting travelers by offering them specialized medical expertise in travel health, personalized advice and all the vaccines they need to prevent illnesses associated with a stay abroad.

As a Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre designated by the Public Health Agency of Canada, we are particularly pleased to announce that our clinics are once again stocked with yellow fever vaccine. In concrete terms, this means that :

  • Our patients can now receive their full vaccination in a single appointment.
  • We can issue the international vaccination certificate required for many destinations.
  • Delays in obtaining a travel health consultation are considerably reduced.

In other words, travel becomes simpler, safer and much less stressful.

Why consult a specialized clinic before you travel

Receiving the yellow fever vaccine is a crucial step, but it’s not the only measure to take before a trip. A travel health consultation can :

  • Check if any other vaccines are required (hepatitis A, typhoid, rabies, etc.).
  • Update basic vaccination records (tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough, etc.).
  • Get personalized advice according to destination, length of stay and type of trip (tourism, business, humanitarian, adventure).
  • Receive prescriptions to prevent certain diseases such as malaria.

At Priveo Santé, we take the time to discuss each patient’s situation with them, in order to draw up an appropriate prevention plan. Our aim is simple: to enable you to travel with complete peace of mind.

Whether you’re on a humanitarian mission, a business trip or a vacation in Africa or South America, we’re ready to welcome you and prepare you for a safe stay.
