Are allergy tests offered by allergists?

No, this service is offered by specialized nurse practitioners and general practitioners. They are trained to assess your health condition, prescribe the necessary blood tests and follow up on the results. If necessary, they can also prescribe treatment or refer you to an allergist.

Can I have a specific allergen analyzed without a complete profile?

Yes, it is possible to request a targeted analysis for one or more specific allergens. The fee is $239 for the first analysis (including consultation) and $90 for each additional allergen.

Who can take an allergy test?

The tests are available for adults and children from the age of 8, depending on the health professional’s assessment.

Should I stop taking my antihistamines before the test?

No, it’s not necessary to stop taking antihistamines before the test. Unlike skin tests, which can be influenced by the use of these drugs, antihistamines do not affect the results of a blood test.

How long does it take to get results?

Blood allergy test results are generally available within 14 working days. This may vary depending on the laboratory performing the analysis and the complexity of the tests performed. Once the results have been obtained, our team will contact you to discuss the results.

What do I do if I test positive?

If an allergy is identified, our healthcare professionals will provide you with clear recommendations on how to manage your condition. They will discuss with you the steps to take to minimize risks and optimize your well-being. If necessary, they will refer you to a specialist for further follow-up and appropriate treatment.

How are the results interpreted?

Allergen results are analyzed individually. A score of 0 indicates no allergy. A score of 1 to 2 indicates mild to moderate sensitization. A score of 3 to 4 indicates high sensitization with a risk of allergic reactions. Finally, a score of 5 to 6 indicates very high sensitization, with an increased risk of severe reactions.

Can I get a copy of my results report?

Yes, you can easily obtain a copy of your results report. Just ask a member of our team. Your report will then be transmitted securely via our patient portal.
